Bay Plastics Machinery opened a new Training, Technology & Manufacturing Center in Bay City Wednesday as the company looks to expand production and address workforce shortages in the manufacturing industry.
The new facility on North Euclid Avenue will allow the company to increase production of equipment used in plastics compounding and recycling.
It also includes space for customer training and programs aimed at introducing local students and young people to careers in manufacturing.
Bay Plastics Machinery Vice President of Sales James Forgash said one of the industry’s biggest challenges is finding workers with the mechanical and technical skills needed in manufacturing environments.
